Houston based artist Patrick Medrano and photographer Katy Anderson invite you to attend a reception for the introduction of their latest independent and collaborative works. This event will combine the latest works by the artists presented in a show titled; “IN THE BELLY OF A DOLLAR” and the unveiling of plans for their latest endeavor, “The Fodice Foundation”. This event is going to be one celebration at Gallery M2, 325 W. 19th St. Houston, TX. 77008. from 7p.m. until 11p.m.
The couple wishes to inform the public that a fight for the arts is on and the gloves are off. They pull no punches by stepping into the ring to promote and foster interdisciplinary art in Texas. Their latest undertaking involves Texas and the arts community as a whole with hopes that both emerge victorious. The foundation and its residency program are being established to foster artistic development and support arts education and advancement in Texas. Katy Anderson states, “This program will do this by way of diverse cultural events, shows and exhibitions, and by providing artists with a sanctuary allowing them to focus on developing new bodies of work.” Located just two hours Northeast of Houston, the Fodice School, (future home of the Fodice Foundation) is a magnificent example of early Texas architecture and is a standing reminder of African American life in the years after the Civil War. Patrick Medrano says, “One goal is to draw some much-deserved attention to the history of the Fodice community and to continue its legacy of education in the most inspiring ways possible.”
Both artists bring their own distinguishing styles, talents, and individual passions to this event setting the stage for things to come. “Patrick Medrano's, 3D works, paintings, and devices intrigue viewers into searching within, to face, a sometimes not so pleasant reality of the world around us, including ourselves. Katy Anderson's thought provoking photography captures memories, emotions, and purpose of being, leaving the viewer content and eager to drink in more. With harmony, perfect blending of conception and form, the two become one, contained within collaborations of true unison, completing a breath taking tour of the visual experience,” says Max Boyd Harrison owner of Gallery M2.
The Fodice Project, is a labor of devotion, courage and passion that Patrick Medrano, Katy Anderson, Gallery M2, and underwriting supporters such as Dr. Carolyn Farb and Tom and Mary Rollins are committed to, and we extend an invitation to you to join us along with these talented artists, and help prove the arts community in Houston is alive and well by examining what can be found, "IN THE BELLY OF A DOLLAR."
